Mariners Vs. Rangers Final Score: Seattle's Turn To Get Shut Out In 4-0 Loss

Stay connected for news and updates

Just a day after the Seattle Mariners exploded for seven runs behind a complete game shutout by Felix Hernandez, they were unable to bring anyone home in the series finale against the Texas Rangers. The Mariners dropped the three-game series by losing Sunday's rubber match by a final score of 4-0.

The game was largely devoid of fireworks of any kind. The Rangers jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the top of the first thanks to an RBI groundout by Josh Hamilton. Adrian Beltre had pehaps the biggest hit; a two-run RBI single in the top of the third. Ian Kinsler hit his 10th home run of the season in the fifth inning for the final Texas run.

Hisashi Iwakuma gave up all four runs in five innings of work on seven hits and three walks. Matt Harrison picked up his 12th victory by holding the M's to five hits and four walks in a complete game shutout. Michael Saunders had two of Seattle's five hits and Brendan Ryan's fifth inning double was the only Mariners extra-base hit in the game.
