2012 MLB Mock Draft: Mariners Select SS Carlos Correa In First Round

Stay connected for news and updates

The 2012 MLB Draft begins with its first round on Monday and the Seattle Mariners are the proud holders of the No. 3 overall pick. The Mariners have a remarkable surplus of young pitching in their system, so it is likely that they will attempt to focus on offense with a first round pick of a position player.

In the latest mock draft at Minor League Ball, John Sickels believes that Seattle will target a high school shortstop with their first pick. Here's his take:

3) Seattle Mariners: Carlos Correa, SS, Puerto Rico HS: He's been utterly spectacular in recent workouts, and I don't think we'll see another Hultzenish surprise choice.

We will have to stand by and see whether this prediction comes true. Can the Mariners lock down a potential franchise shortstop and key component of their future offense on Monday? Only time will tell.
