Mariners Vs. Athletics: Erasmo Ramirez Allows 3 Hits, Seattle Loses 1-0

Stay connected for news and updates

On Monday, the Seattle Mariners returned home to Safeco Field to kick off yet another series against the Oakland Athletics. Starting pitcher Erasmo Ramirez was terrific, allowing just three hits and one walk in eight innings of work. Unfortunately, the Mariners came up on the losing end and were shut out for the second straight game by a final score of 1-0.

The entirety of the scoring in the game came in the top of the second inning, when Seth Smith hit a one-out home run for Oakland. Unfortunately, the run support did not show up for Ramirez.

The Mariners managed seven hits (all singles) and one walk, but were 0-for-2 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base.

The Mariners have not scored a run for 18 innings now. They'll try to get at least one on the board on Tuesday.
