Mariners Vs. Diamondbacks Final Score: Seattle Wins Wild Extra-Inning Affair, 12-9

The Seattle Mariners certainly didn't make things boring on Tuesday night as they engaged in a wild back-and-forth game with the hometown Arizona Diamondbacks. The Mariners eventually prevailed in 10 innings, evening up the three-game series with a 12-9 win.

Justin Smoak got the scoring started with his 11th home run of the year in the second inning. Kyle Seager hit an RBI single in the third, but the 2-0 Mariners lead was short-lived. The D-backs got three runs in the bottom of the third on an Aaron Hill sacrifice fly and a two-run single from Paul Goldschmidt.

Gerardo Parra and Hill hit homers in the bottom of the fourth to make it 5-2 Arizona, but the Mariners were about to bounce back in a big way.

The top of the fifth was the big one for the M's, as they plated six runs on homers by Seager and Brendan Ryan. The 8-5 lead was also unable to hold up, as in the bottom of the fifth the D-backs scored three times to tie things up again with a Goldschmidt homer and RBI hits by Lyle Overbay and Willie Bloomquist.

Miguel Montero pushed the Diamondbacks ahead 9-8 in the bottom of the sixth with another RBI single, but Ichiro Suzuki tied it up yet again with a sacrifice fly in the top of the eighth inning. The Mariners bullpen managed to hold the score there and the game went to extra innings.

Seattle got the upper hand in the top of the 10th as Justin Smoak walked and Dustin Ackley singled. Ryan bunted the runners over and Casper Wells drove them both in with a single to make it 11-9. Suzuki doubled home Wells for a big insurance run. Ichiro finally picked up career hit No. 2,500 in a big game, as he finished 4-for-5 with two RBI.

The Mariners will be back at it on Wednesday afternoon, looking to secure the series win in the rubber game.
