Mariners Vs. Giants Series Preview: TV Schedule, Probable Pitchers & More

The Mariners have lost five straight. Can they turn it around against the Giants and their tough pitching staff?

The Seattle Mariners have not been doing so hot in interleague play. Despite kicking off this interleague homestand with a six-pitcher no-hitter -- the third in Mariners history -- the Mariners have now lost five straight after dropping two of three to the Los Angeles Dodgers and being swept by the San Diego Padres in an extremely embarrassing series that saw them unable to score a run for 15 straight innings.

The Mariners have already thrown a no-hitter at Safeco Field this season and been the victims of a perfect game. They'll have to face a much more terrifying pitching staff than they faced with San Diego as the San Francisco Giants come to town for a three-game series on Friday night. The good news for the Mariners is that they will not have to face Matt Cain, who just threw the 22nd perfect game in MLB history and has looked as unhittable as anyone in baseball this season. The bad news is that they will still face three tough, tough, pitchers.

For a team that has had as much trouble scoring as the Mariners, they have every right to be scared.

TV Schedule & Probable Pitchers.

Friday's game will begin at 7:10 p.m. PT and will be televised on ROOT Sports. You can catch the radio broadcast on 710 ESPN. The Mariners will have their most consistent pitcher, Jason Vargas, getting the start. He is looking for his eighth win and will try to get the Mariners off on the right foot. He's going up against Ryan Vogelsong, who is 5-2 with a 2.26 ERA and has been every bit as good as those numbers would suggest, if not better.

First pitch on Saturday will be at 7:10 p.m. PT and the game will be televised on ROOT Sports and the MLB Network. You can catch the radio broadcast on 710 ESPN. Kevin Millwood, who threw the first six innings of the Seattle no-hitter last week, will take the mound. This may be Seattle's best matchup of the series, as they face two-time Cy Young winner Tim Lincecum, who has shockingly been the worst Giants pitcher by far this season, coming into Saturday's game with a 2-7 record and a 6.00 ERA. The Mariners could take advantage of Lincecum's struggles, rather than the team against whom the former ace figures his problems out.

Sunday's finale begins at 1:10 p.m. PT and will be televised on ROOT Sports. You can catch the radio broadcast on 710 ESPN. The best pure pitching match-up of the series will see Seattle ace Felix Hernandez trying to get back on the winning track after a couple of shaky starts. He will face off against 22-year-old lefty phenom Madison Bumgarner, who is 8-4 with a 3.08 ERA, but is worse on the road than at home.
