Franklin Gutierrez Injury: M's Outfielder Takes BP, Begins Light Agility Drills

Stay connected for news and updates

Seattle Mariners outfielder Franklin Gutierrez is slowly but surely making his way back into the M's lineup, taking another crucial step on the road to recovery after taking batting practice on Tuesday before the game.

After taking some hacks in the cage Gutierrez is expected to test his foot riddled with plantar fasciitis with some light running and agility drills on Wednesday. Gutierrez has been back at team headquarters getting treatment on his foot for a couple of weeks, though picking up a bat and taking part in running drillis are the best signs yet for the oft-injured 29-year old.

Gutierrez has been on the disabled list all season after suffering a strained pectoral muscle during spring training. He was back doing conditioning and was about to start another rehab assignment when the issues with his foot began to surface.
