On Sunday, the Seattle Mariners wrapped up their first home series of 2012 with a win over the Oakland Athletics. It was the second series win against the A's in only three series played for the M's this season. Blake Beavan started the game for Seattle and ended up getting the win after going seven innings and giving up three runs on six hits and no walks. The Mariners won by a final score of 5-3.
Seattle got the scoring started in the bottom of the second inning when Kyle Seager doubled and Brendan Ryan hit a two-run homer. Justin Smoak added a solo shot in the bottom of the third to make it 3-0 Mariners.
The A's tied things up in the top of the fifth inning on a three-RBI Eric Sogard homer, but the Mariners came right back in the bottom of the frame. Ichiro Suzuki doubled home Chone Figgins to put the M's ahead for good and the next batter, Smoak, got an RBI groundout that plated Dustin Ackley for the insurance run.
