Seattle Mariners center fielder Franklin Gutierrez will miss Tuesday night's game against the Los Angeles Angels with a sore left groin, according to the team's website. The seven-year veteran was pulled from Sunday's game against the Oakland A's because of the injury, and he's listed as day-to-day.

Manager Eric Wedge hasn't ruled Gutierrez out of returning even though the regular season lasts just two more days.

"I'm a big believer you have to fight to stay on the field," Wedge said, according to the Mariners website. "If he has a chance to play another game, we're going to get him in there. If it doesn't make any sense, then we won't."

Gutierrez doubled in two at-bats on Sunday, but felt a tightness in his leg while running the bases. On Monday he said the leg was sore.

The outfielder missed much of the year thanks to a torn oblique muscle and a concussion. The 29-year-old has played in 40 games this season, and batted .260 with four home runs and 17 RBI.
