Ryan Moore has an improbable shot to win the 2012 FedEx Cup, and it'll start with him winning the 2012 Tour Championship.
The scenario for Ryan Moore to win the 2012 FedEx Cup is somewhat circuitous. But it is possible.
Moore has to win the tournament, then Rory McIlroy must finish near the bottom of the top 30 (below top 25), plus Tiger Woods, Nick Watney, Phil Mickelson, Brandt Snedeker and Louis Oosthuizen must not do well. To see the full details of the scenario in which Moore wins this thing, check out Todd Milles's post in the Tacoma News Tribune.
Currently there are five golfers in the whole deal who can win the Cup by winning the Tour Championship in McIlroy, Woods, Watney, Mickelson and Snedeker. In fact McIlroy is so far ahead of the pack that there's a shot of him winning even if he finishes in next-to-last place. All McIlroy really has to do to keep his probabilities high is finish in the top-five, which is well within his reach.
