British Open Prize Money 2012: Ernie Els, Adam Scott Earn The Most

Stay connected for news and updates

The 2012 Open Championship wasn't just a show of an epic collapse by Adam Scott, but a huge reversal in money. Scott probably lost over half-a-million dollars thanks to his stunning fall those final few holes, as he ended up with $838,978. Ernie Els, the eventual 2012 British Open champion, won $1.4 million overall. TIger Woods came up right behind Els and Scott, finishing in a tie for third and earning $479,992 overall.

One Seattle golfer did end with a nice pay-day after he finished in a tie for 39th. Gig Harbor resident Kyle Stanley earned $33,075 for his efforts. Troy Kelly missed the cut and didn't earn any money from the Open. Not too bad considering Ben Crane didn't end up getting a chance to play.
