2012 U.S. Open, Leaderboard Update: Beau Hossler Steals Headlines On Friday

Beau Hossler is 17 years old. He just finished up his junior years of high school and qualified for the 2012 U.S. Open as an amateur. Hossler was tied for the lead for quite a bit of Friday afternoon at Olympic, and only a few bad holes late dropped him down to +3. Still though, he's not even old enough to vote and he held his own on one of the world's toughest courses.

The other big story on Friday was strong play yet again from Tiger Woods, who is on quite the roll right now. Woods is tied for the tournament lead at -1 with David Toms and Jim Furyk after 36 holes. He shot an even par 70 in the second round.

Michael Thompson, who led the field at -4 entering Friday, shot +5 and is now tied for second place at one-over par. Phil Mickelson finished his day at one-over, dropping him to +7 at the U.S. Open. The projected cut line is +8. The struggling Rory McIlroy continued to struggle on Friday and is now at +10 through two rounds.
