The Ducks are on top early in the Civil War.

It has been a see-saw battle at the 2012 Civil War battle between Oregon and Oregon State, as the Ducks have taken the lead at 13-7 in the second quarter.

The Ducks jumped on top with a touchdown on their first possession of the game. Oregon drove 62 yards in just five plays for the score. Quarterback Marcus Mariota finished the drive with a 42-yard run. The Ducks failed on a two-point conversion attempt following the touchdown.

Oregon State would come back a few drives later. The Beavers started with good field position at their own 45 to start, and Sean Mannion hit a 40-yard pass play to Brandin Cooks to start the possession. Three plays later, Storm Woods would punch it in. The extra point put the Beavers up 7-6.

It wouldn't take long for the Ducks to answer. Oregon would take the lead back on a 12-play, 68-yard drive the next time it had the ball. De'Anthony Thomas finished the drive with a 2-yard TD at the 13:19 mark in the second quarter.
