Randy Moss rumors: Wide receiver unsure if he wants to play in 2013, according to report

Few players in the NFL are as vocal as Randy Moss, so it should be a telltale sign that he might be ready to retire after a long run of silence from the veteran receiver. Moss is unsure if he wants play in the 2013 season, coming off of a Super Bowl appearance with the San Francisco 49ers, according to CBS Sports' Mike Freeman.

Moss had previously retired in August 2011 after a disappointing year in which he was released by both the Patriots and Vikings before finishing the year with the Titans and totaling just 393 yards. But after sitting out the 2011 season he decided to return and sign with the 49ers at the age of 35, playing in all 16 regular season games and the playoffs, including 41 yards in the Super Bowl loss to the Ravens.

The 49ers opted not to bring back Moss, and so far no other team has picked up the free agent receiver.

Moss is a six-time Pro Bowler, four-time All-Pro, and is second all-time in receiving touchdowns and third all-time in receiving yards.

Few onlookers weren't impressed with Andrew Luck's rookie season, despite riding high expectations following a remarkable career at Stanford and being the No. 1 overall pick in the 2012 NFL Draft. But expectations could be even higher and everybody will be watching to see if a "sophomore slump" is on the horizon for the young phenom. Head coach Chuck Pagano has no fear about a slump however, and not only endorses Luck as a "tireless worker" but says that the offense will look a little different under offensive coordinator Pep Hamilton.

After the Arizona Cardinals hired away former offensive coordinator and interim head coach Bruce Arians to run their team, the Colts found a familiar face to Luck to run their offense; Hamilton is the former offensive coordinator at Stanford. Pagano told reporters a little bit about how the offense will change in the transition from Arians to Hamilton, a first-time coordinator in the NFL (via the Indy Star's Mike Chappell):

The biggest difference might be a little bit more quick-game, if you will. Get the ball out of Andrew’s hands. Three- and quick five-step drops. Get it into our playmakers’ hands. A little bit more catch-and-run type of things.

Pagano also stresses that the team wants to "be able to run the football" but that they will still take shots downfield. The Colts passed the ball 628 times last season against 440 rushing attempts, 62 of which came from Luck. The rookie quarterback completed 54.1 percent of his passes for 4,374 yards, 23 touchdowns, 18 interceptions, 7.0 yards per attempt, and was named to the AFC roster for the Pro Bowl while leading the Colts from the worst record in the league to a wild card berth with an 11-5 record.

Luck also broke the single-game and full-season records for passing yards by a rookie.

The biggest changes on offense in terms of weapons for Luck will be the addition of Darrius Heyward-Bey from the Raiders following the departure of Donnie Avery, a player that had 60 catches for 781 yards last season for the Colts. Otherwise, the maturation of other young players such as T.Y. Hilton, Dwayne Allen, Coby Fleener, and LaVon Brazill, as well as veteran Reggie Wayne entering his 13th season with Indianapolis, could be the benefactors of a faster offense centered around more passes underneath and on quick-drops from the second-year quarterback.

The Colts finished 10th in total offense in 2012, but just 18th in scoring and 22nd in rushing yards. Hamilton was promoted by Stanford head coach David Shaw in 2011 to be the offensive coordinator and helped lead the Cardinal to a 16-2 record in the Pac-12 over the last two seasons, including a 2013 Rose Bowl victory, despite not having Andrew Luck.

Now, he gets to go back to coaching Luck, and hopefully for the Colts, not skipping a beat in getting off to a fast start.

Kyle Love had option to retire from Patriots, agent says

Kyle Love, only 26, could be retired right now. Instead, he has decided to keep looking for a new NFL team for the 2013 season after the Patriots released him for a medical condition. He will not pursue legal action against the franchise for what could be a potential violation of the Americans with Disabilities Act, according to his agent, Richard Kopelman, via Pro Football Talk. New England reportedly gave Love the option to retire for a year after his medical diagnosis of Type-2 diabetes or be released and look for a new home.

Love chose to be released because he just wants to play football, and Kopelman has expressed that at this time he won't pursue a lawsuit against the team.

An undrafted free agent in 2010 out of Mississippi State, Love overcame the odds not only made the roster of one of the best teams in the NFL, but has started 25 regular season games over the last two years, including the Patriots' loss to the Giants in Super Bowl XLVI. Love teamed with Vince Wilfork in the middle of the defensive line and the team finished ninth against the run last season in terms of rushing yards allowed.

But when he was diagnosed with Type-2 diabetes, the team released him on May 15. While that could be considered a clear violation of the law, Love has decided to not ruffle feathers and pursue his NFL career instead of a lawsuit. That doesn't mean that someone else won't, whether it's the league office or an outside party upset with the blatant violation, but for Love, he has appeared to move on.

Josh Freeman wasn't supposed to be a concern for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The fifth-year quarterback threw a career-high 27 touchdown passes in 2012, but he completed just 54.8 percent of his passes, had 17 interceptions and managed just 7.3 yards per attempt as the Bucs fell apart late in the season for the second year in a row. For that reason, 2013 third-round pick Mike Glennon might get a shot at starting sooner than anticipated.

Tampa Bay coaches have been impressed with Glennon during rookie minicamp, and Mark Cook of the Pewter Report says the Buccaneers had him as the top-rated quarterback on their draft board this year. Taken with the 11th pick of the third round out of N.C. State, the 6'7 Glennon did not face a very stiff competition in terms of the 2013 quarterback class. No quarterback was taken in the top ten, only E.J. Manuel was a QB taken in the first round, and Glennon ended up being the third quarterback selected in the draft at the 73rd overall pick.

Still, despite the class being seen as "weak" by many experts, it doesn't preclude any of them from getting a chance to start, just as 2012 third-round picks Russell Wilson and Nick Foles did last year for the Seahawks and Eagles, respectively. General manager Mark Dominik recently said that Glennon will get "a lot of reps in the preseason" and have a chance to prove his mettle.

That doesn't mean that Glennon will have as much success as a player like Wilson did, but if Freeman continues to struggle to perform at a high-level consistently, the Bucs may have less patience with him now that they have an interesting rookie backup and have spent a considerable amount of money to build a team that can win right now. If Freeman falters, there is now an interesting option waiting in the wings.

The Dallas Cowboys are such an integral force in the NFL that even calling your city home to their practices can be quite an honor. That's an honor that Valley Ranch could be in danger of losing amid reports that after 28 years the Cowboys are looking for a new place to call home for their practices, according to the Dallas Morning News' David Moore.

Despite the fact that Dallas is one of the best draws in the league, Valley Ranch has been referred to as "outdated" and behind the curve of some other practice facilities in the NFL, so it appears that they could look to build a new facility somewhere else.

The Cowboys will continue to practice at Valley Ranch for the 2013 season, but Moore's sources say that they could be in discussions with Frisco, Arlington, or keeping the team in Irving, where Valley Ranch is located.

Valley Ranch is approximately 110,000 square feet on 30 acres, but reportedly around three-quarters of the NFL has built a new practice facility since it was officially opened in August 1985. It still lacks certain amenities, such as a full-service dining hall, and for Jerry Jones and the Cowboys it would seem that they would like to have all the luxuries of any other professional sports team.

It appears that as of right now, they're starting to look for a place to break ground on the next one, even if it remains in Valley Ranch.
