College Football Rankings 2012: Oregon Takes Advantage Of USC Loss

The Oregon Ducks benefited from the biggest upset of the early football season in moving from No. 4 to No. 3 in the newly released USA Today Coaches Poll. With the USC Trojans failing to defeat the Stanford Cardinal for the fourth consecutive year, the Ducks were able to move up in the rankings while their fellow Pac-12 power dropped to No. 12.

The Ducks trail behind the No. 1 Alabama Crimson Tide and No. 2 LSU Tigers. The Crimson Tide snagged 54 of the 59 possible first place votes while LSU got the other five.

Oregon is the highest ranked Pac-12 team followed by Stanford (No. 11), USC (No. 12), UCLA (No. 19) and Arizona (No. 21).

The Oregon St. Beavers are still on the outside looking in, trailing behind seven teams before even getting a chance to sniff the No. 25 spot currently held by the Oklahoma State Cowboys.
