Olympic Games 2012 Recap: U.S. Women's Soccer Victory Over Canada Is An Instant Classic

In all honesty, the Olympics today could have been merely the women's soccer match-up between the U.S.A. and Canada and then only been eight consecutive hours of dressage and it still would have been the most exciting day in Olympics history.

Abby Wambach, Alex Morgan, and Megan Rapinoe each found the back of the goal (Rapinoe twice) as the U.S. had to rally from a goal deficit three separate times. Canada looked more than eager and beyond ready to end their 27 game losing streak to the big sister to the south and almost looked like they were going to push it to penalties.

But Morgan continued her heroics as one of the most exciting Olympic athletes partaking this year, drilling a header home in the 123rd minute for the win.

The U.S. will get to attempt to exact some revenge on World Cup champion Japan, who slipped by France 2-1. The final for the medal is on Thursday.

American Jenn Suhr won the pole vault, skying up to 4.75 meters to defeat Cuba's Yarisley Silva. She also beat two-time defending Olympic champion Yelena Isinbayeva of Russia.

The tiny island of Grenada picked up their first medal of the 2012 Olympics as 19-year-old Kirani Janes won the 400-meter with a time of 43.94. Defending U.S. champion LaShawn Merrit injured his hamstring in the semifinals of the race and did not participate.

Kevin Durant picked up Team U.S.A. and put them on his scrawny shoulders at the men's basketball team survived a pesky Argentinian squad to come out on top of their group. The men will face Australia (3-2) in the quarterfinals on Wednesday.
