2012 Olympics Results: Usain Bolt Wins Gold In Men's 100m Final, Yohan Blake Takes Silver

Stay connected for news and updates

Usain Bolt continued his recent streak of dominance at the Olympics on Sunday, winning the men's 100m final race in an astounding 9.63 seconds. Bolt did not get off to a great start as the gun sounded, but he really picked up his speed late and cruised to a victory in the closing meters.

Fellow countryman Yohan Blake won silver for his efforts. He was viewed as the favorite in the race other than Bolt, and he certainly held his own while finishing in 9.75 seconds, a personal best in official competition. Three Americans were in the running for a medal, and it was Justin Gatlin who claimed a bronze medal after crossing the line in 9.79.

Gatlin just edged out Tyson Gay, who placed fourth in 9.80 seconds. Ryan Bailey took fifth in 9.88 despite being one of the heavy underdogs entering Sunday.
