Oregon State hosts Nicholls State in their season-opening game.
Oregon State host the Nicholls State Colonels in their season-opening game on Saturday, Sept. 1. The Beavers will look to get out to a hot start and improve on last year's record. They went 3–9 in 2011 with a 3–6 Pac-12 record, finishing in fifth place in the North Division.
Storm Woods will be the man in charge of the Beavers' offense after he won the fall camp's quarterback competition over Malcolm Agnew and others. He'll have to helm the offense without one of his prime red zone targets. Wide receiver Obum Gwacham, one of the tallest receivers in school history at 6'5", is out with an ankle injury. Tight end Colby Prince is also nursing an injury and his arm is in a sling.
If the Beavers are looking to get their feet under them at the start of the season, the Colonels present a good opportunity to do so. They went 1-10 in the 2011 season.
