Former Husky Chris Polk Possibly Moving To Fullback For Eagles?

According to a report from Bleeding Green Nation, former University of Washington running back Chris Polk may be moving to fullback for the Philadelphia Eagles, something the rookie feels he is comfortable with after his time at UW.

Offensive coordinator Marty Mornhinweg had nothing but great things to say about Polk, noting that Polk can do a number of things for his new team: "Certainly that's been discussed and thought of," said Mornhinweg. "He is a physical player, isn't he? I think Chris Polk is an excellent football player. I think he is an excellent ball carrier, I think he could be an excellent blocker as well."

Jason B of Bleeding Green Nation expands on this:

"As Polk told McManus, he feels he does have some lead blocking experience, having to pave the way for QB Jake Locker at Washington, where they ran a lot of draw plays."

Also, it's notable that Chris Polk was known as a very good receiver at the running back position for UW, and played wide receiver in high school, so he knows how to run routes. With the way the fullback position is being used these days (as threats to catch passes), he could possibly be utilized as a dual-threat type. Former Husky Marcel Reece made the change from receiver in college to fullback in the pros and is a rising star.

Let's hope this transition will make Polk's future in the NFL that much brighter.
