Leon Landry Tearing It Up In High Desert

I was in central California this past week, right around the High Desert, and got a first-hand account of what it might be like to hit a baseball there. Hot, humid, and thousands of feet above sea level, it certainly seems like if you trip over a rock you might fly a hundred yards. It's certainly acting that way around Leon Landry's bat since he was acquired for Brandon League.

In 13 games with the Mavericks, Landry is hitting .491/.508/.877 with 3 HR, 7 doubles, 3 triples, 50 total bases, 6 SB, 6 strikeouts, 2 walks, and 16 RBI. He was 2-for-4 at Lancaster last night, his eighth multi-hit game over his last ten.

Brandon League has an ERA of 12.27 for the Dodgers.

Landry had already played in 80 games in the California League this year before being traded and was hitting .328/.358/.559 with 20 stolen bases, and even Mendoza himself could probably hit .300 there, but you'd rather he was hitting well than hitting poorly, right? You are here because you're a Mariners fan, right?

Still, it will be nice to see what Landry does next season, which will probably be at AA Jackson.
