The shock of former Seattle Mariners outfielder Greg Halman's murder has not completely worn off, and in a quick turn of events in the Netherlands a Dutch court has ordered Halman's brother, the chief suspect in the case, be released from prison after the prosecutors and defense alike asked for his acquittal of manslaughter charges.

Jason Halman is thought to have fatally stabbed his older brother after the two had a scuffle over some loud music back on Nov. 21, 2011. During Halman's trial, psychiatrists claimed that he was having a psychotic episode at the time of the incident, which took place in an apartment they were living in at the time in Rotterdam.

Judges at the Rotterdam District Court are expected to rule on Halman's case on August 30.

Greg Halman, a native of Haarlem, Netherlands hit .230 in 35 games for the Mariners in 2011, owning a .209 career average with two home runs and nine RBI in 44 games played in the majors.
