Reports From Huskies Live-Contact Scrimmage

The Washington Huskies scrimmaging started with some live-contact work today during a two-hour practice. Bob Condotta of the Seattle Times was there to report.

The offense looked pretty good, scoring five touchdowns in 12 full possessions. All five touchdowns came off of passes, including two from Keith Price. Price threw a TD pass to Kendyl Taylor and Austin Seferian-Jenkins, with both touchdowns coming from the first offense against the second defense.

The defense was missing several key palyers, including safeties Justin Glenn and Shaq Thompson-Green. Thompson-Green sat out of practice for the second-straight day after suffering a mild concussion.

The running game wasn't very evident throughout the practice, with Jesse Callier gaining 15 yards early and Bishop Sankey rattling off a 20-yarder.

Coach Steve Sarkisian kept the players on their heels with lots of mixing and matching throughout the practice, something he said they responded to pretty well, but there is still room to grow.

"We need to improve. Everybody needs to improve. Keith needs to improve. I've seen him better than he was today. So everybody has to improve to some degree within the position they are playing at, so I don't think it's about one guy or one position group. I think collectively we need to improve from where we were today.Do I think it was bad? No. I think there was plenty of good things out there. But I know we can be better."

The Huskies open their season against San Diego State at CenturyLink Field, while their own personal digs of Husky Stadium get remodeled this year.
