Tarvaris Jackson Could Be Shopped By Seattle Seahawks

With Matt Flynn starting and rookie quarterback Russell Wilson running the second unit in the first two preseason games, Tarvaris Jackson has become the odd man out for the Seattle Seahawks, and Jason La Canfora of CBS reports that the team could begin shopping the veteran as soon as this week.

Jackson, the seven-year pro, has been taking reps with the first unit in practices but didn't play a snap in Seattle's first preseason game. Flynn and Wilson, meanwhile, looked plenty capable in game action.

On Tuesday, The News Tribune's Eric Williams hinted at Jackson's role possibly coming to an end, and he added that the quarterback is doing himself no favors in practice.

Head coach Pete Carroll said that Jackson is still in the quarterback competition, and he's seen enough of Jackson to make him feel comfortable rolling with only Flynn and Wilson in the preseason.

"He's still in the competition," Carroll told the media. "He absolutely is. This is the way I've just chosen to do it, that I'm banking on the 18 games I've seen him. He knows the offense. He knows what's going on. And I watched him play last year on practicing one day a week for five weeks, and he could function. So I'm using all that information to allow us the opportunity to see these other guys."
