Mariners Vs. Angels Final Score: Jesus Montero Socks It To L.A. In 4-1 Win

The weekend's three-game series between the Seattle Mariners and the Los Angeles Angels in Southern California was a very unlikely series. It started with the Mariners blowing a five-run lead behind Felix Hernandez and ended with them defeating the Angels' best starter, Jered Weaver, to take the series. The Mariners won the rubber game on Sunday, 4-1.

Jesus Montero led off the second inning with his 11th home run of the year to get Seattle on the board first. The lead didn't last long, as Vernon Wells tied things up in the bottom of the second with a sacrifice fly to score Howie Kendrick. Somewhat surprisingly, that would be the only run the Angels would score in support of Weaver.

In the top of the six, Montero hit his second home run of the game, this time a two-run shot that put the Mariners on top for good. Chone Figgins hit an RBI triple in the top of the ninth for a big insurance run.

Montero and Figgins had two of Seattle's five hits in the game. Jason Vargas pitched another great game, improving to 13-8 after going 8.1 innings and giving up one run on seven hits and one walk.
