Mike Zunino Homers, Victor Sanchez Gets the Win

Victor Sanchez, 17, had a good start for Everett last night, going 6 innings and allowing 4 hits, 1 R, walking 4 and striking out 5. You'd like to see fewer walks (it was a season-high) but he otherwise held his own again against much older competition as the Aquasox beat Yakima 3-1.

Catcher Mike Zunino went 1-for-4 with a home run, his fourth of the season. He's now hitting .378/.465/.784 in his first ten professional games with five walks and six strikeouts. Patrick Kivlehan went 2-for-3 and also homered, and Michael Faulkner went 2-for-3 himself.

Meanwhile, Danny Hultzen hates pitching in Colorado. It's a good thing he won't have to do it much as a Mariner.

Hultzen went 4 innings at Colorado Springs and gave up 6 hits, 4 R, 4 ER, 4 BB, and 5 K. The strikeouts are nice and he kept the ball in the park, but was out of control once again. He's got a James Paxton-like 21 walks in 27 innings for the Rainiers.

Justin Smoak will be joining Hultzen and Nick Franklin (1-for-4) in Tacoma today. So that's a thing. A sad thing, but probably a good thing.
