Olympic Trials 2012: Peter Vanderkaay and Conor Dwyer Are 400 Meter Freestyle Qualifiers

Three time Olympic medalist Peter Vanderkaay won the 400-meter freestyle with a final time of 3:47.64. Vanderkaay participated in the 2004 as a member of the 4x200-meter freestyle relay team. In 2008 he won his first individual medal by placing third in the 200-meter freestyle race. He was also part of the world record setting 4x200-meter freestyle relay team.

Joining Vanderkaay is first time Olympian Conor Dwyer. Dwyer finished with a final time of 3:47.83, using the final fifty seconds to surge ahead of Michael Klueh and Charlie Houchin. For the final 100 meter leg he posted a time of 56.81.
