Elizabeth Beisel, a swimmer for the Florida Gators, stomped the competition in the Women's 400 Meter Individual Medley, winning by over three seconds with a final time of 4:31.74. However, the bigger story of the race might be the second place finisher Caitlin Leverenz, who will be heading to her first Olympics of her career.
Leverenz, a swimmer for the University of California Golden Bears, just narrowly missed out on making the 2008 U.S. Olympic Team, and her final time of 4:34.48 was good enough for second place and a passport stamp to London, England.
Beisel was the youngest member of the 2008 U.S. Olympic Swim team as a 15-year-old. She finished second in both the 400-meter individual medley and the 200-meter backstroke.
