A Baseball Prospectus has the Seattle Mariners selecting shortstop Carlos Correa, the #1 overall prospect as ranked by SB Nation's Minor League Ball.
Kevin Goldstein at Baseball Prospectus has released picks 1-15 of his latest mock MLB draft, and with the third overall pick he has the Seattle Mariners selecting Carlos Correa, a shortstop out of the Puerto Rico Baseball Academy.
[Mark] Appel dropping here would be tempting, but the system is loaded with pitching, and after passing on last year's late surging 17-year-old shortstop in Francisco Lindor, they might not want to do it again. Seattle is always hard to get a read on, and [Mike] Zunino is in this mix, as are the college arms.
John Sickels at SB Nation's Minor League Ball ranked Correa as the #1 prospect of the 2012 draft, commenting "Excellent hitter, yet chronologically young for his class. Even if he moves to third base, he's elite. Stellar makeup. University of Miami commitment."
Appel is a right handed pitcher out of Stanford University ranked fourth by Minor League Ball, and Zunino is a catcher from University of Florida Minor League Ball has as the seventh best prospect.
