Tacoma Rainiers Touch Home Plate 14 Times After Series of Roster Moves

The Rainiers roster wasn’t rendered run-less right after Ramirez and rest get recalled. Right?

After putting Stephen Pryor and Mike Carp on the DL, and Blake Beavan and Alex Liddi down to Tacoma, the Rainiers will be saying goodbye or “See you later!” to Erasmo Ramirez, Casper Wells, Franklin Gutierrez and Steve Delabar. Ramirez gets the start on Thursday and Wells is in the lineup tonight.

But this is about Tacoma and their 14-10 victory over Salt Lake today.

Luis Rodriguez went 3-for-5 with 2 HR and 4 RBI, Mike Wilson went 4-for-5 with 2 HR and 3 RBI, and Luis Antonio Jimenez went 2-for-3 with 1 HR and 4 RBI with 3 walks. Clearly, this team isn’t going to be hurting on offense after saying “adios” to that quatro.

Third baseman Vinnie Catricala was 2-for-3 with a HR, his 4th of the season, and he’s now 5-for-10 in his last three games after a 22 at-bat hitless streak.

Additionally, Carlos Peguero was 2-for-5 with a double, Carlos Triunfel was 2-for-5 and Travon Robinson was 1-for-2 before being replaced by Scott Savastano in the order. C Adam Moore was 0-for-6 and is struggling since returning from the DL.

Jandy Sena got the start for Tacoma and went 3.1 innings, 7 H, 3 R, 2 ER, 2 BB, 0 K. Chance Ruffin went 0.2 innings, 2 H, 3 R, 0 ER, 1 BB, 1 K. Cesar Jimenez picked up the win and allowed 3 ER in 2 innings.

Beavan will work on his stuff as a starter in Tacoma, taking Ramirez’s rotation spot and Liddi just needs to start playing every day.

Delabar pitched 5 innings, allowing 1 H, 0 R, 3 K and 2 BB. Erasmo had 37.2 innings, 29 K, 7 BB and an ERA of 3.11. He took a no-hitter into the eighth inning last week. Franklin Gutierrez heads back to Seattle and was hitting .211/.279/.289 in 10 games with Tacoma. Wells hit .224/.400/.469 in 16 games but walked (15) more times than he struck out (13.)

No word yet on when Danny Hultzen will move up!
