Casey Martin makes his debut, and he along with Ben Crane, Kyle Stanley and Nick Sherwood all aim to win their first U.S. Open.
There are four golfers with Pacific Northwestern ties that will be playing at the 2012 U.S. Open.
The most notable name is probably Casey Martin, who sued the PGA (and won) for the right to use a golf cart on the course. Martin went to school in Stanford, but was born and resides in Eugene and has close ties to Oregon as their current golf coach. He'll tee off at 12:45 PM this Thursday. (All times are PT)
There are three other contenders. Kyle Stanley, who went to school in Clemson, was born in Gig Harbor, WA and now resides in Gig Harbor, WA, will get going at 7:59 AM Thursday. Ben Crane was born in Portland, went to school in Oregon, now lives in Westlake, TX, and gets on the course late at 2:13 PM Thursday. Nick Sherwood went to school at Oregon State and currently lives in Albany, Oregon. The amateur gets going at 9:27 PM.
