Stay connected for news and updates

Matt Kuchar is the winner of the 2012 Players Championship. Despite some stiff competition from the field, Kuchar rallied late on the back-nine on his way to winning the biggest event of his young career. He finished the tournament at -13, two strokes better than the second place finishers. Kuchar now sits in sixth place in the FedEx Cup standings.

Martin Laird, Rickie Fowler, Ben Curtis and Zach Johnson were all the runners-up at -11 overall for the day. Luke Donald finished in third place at -9. Kevin Na tied for fourth at -8 after shooting 76 (+4) on Sunday.

How much of the $9.5 million dollar purse did Kuchar take home on Sunday? $1.7 million. Not too bad for four days of work.

Phil Mickelson finished at -3 for the tournament. Tiger Woods went one-over on Sunday to end at -1 and a 40th place finish.
