2012 Players Championship Scores:Matt Kuchar Struggles, Kevin Na Takes Advantage, And Rickie Fowler Storms Up The Board

The result of round three at the 2012 Players Championship was up in the air until the final seconds, as Kevin Na took advantage of Matt Kuchar's struggles and ascended to first place. Matt Kuchar looked to be headed toward sole posession of the lead, but late struggles saw Kevin Na snatch the lead away. Kuchar followed up his dual 68 rounds from rounds one and two with a 69 in round three. He was cruising through the day until about hole 14, where he got a bogey. He'd get another on 16 and 17 sinking the ball on that legendary hole. He ended the day at 3-under and 11-under overall, leaving him in second place. Kevin Na seemed stuck at par much of the day, collecting only two birdies and no bogies through the first 15 holes. He picked up one on hole 16, hit par on 17, and birdied again on 18 to sneak to 12-under and grab the lead.

The other performance of the day was Rickie Fowler, who climbed 14 places with a score of 66, settling at 9-under par for the tournament. He and Na have a lot of momentum going into round three, while Kuchar will have to try to change direction and get back to the form he had in the first half of the day. Things are close going into the final round, so expect the tension to be high on sunday.

2012 Players Championship Leaderboard: Kuchar Leads At 11-Under

Things are getting interesting in round three of the 2012 Players Championship, with Rickie Fowler shooting up the leaderboard after shooting a 66. He's done for the day, but Matt Kuchar and the other leaders are still out there and Kuchar is doing everything he can to hold on to his lead. He's 3-under on the day and standing at 11-under overall, good for sole possession of first place. Fowler and Kevin Na are both at 9-under overall, with Na having a good (but not great) day at 1-under through eight holes.

Kuchar is really putting on a great performance, collecting three straight birdies on holes eight, nine, and ten. After finishing day two in a three way tie, he may be looking at starting day four in the best possible place: squarely in the lead.

The Players Championship 2012, Leaderboard Update: Zach Johnson Takes the Lead, Tiger Woods In Danger Of Missing Cut

The second round of the 2012 Players Championship is well underway, and the birdies are dropping all over TPC Sawgrass this morning. Former Masters champ Zach Johnson has jumped to the front of the pack after firing a 6-under 66, now sitting at 8-under for the week.

Johnson was on fire today, dropping eight birdies along with two bogies, coming in with a 32 on his back side after sinking five birds on the back nine. He is now two shots clear of the field with Adam Scott and five other competitors at 6-under for the week behind him.

Tiger Woods just teed off, and thanks to a poor opening round is over the projected cut line of even par at 2-over for week, He'll need to avoid those mistakes he made on Thursday if he wants to be around for the weekend. Woods has never missed the cut in back-to-back starts in his professional career.

The Players Championship 2012, Leaderboard Update: Ian Poulter Takes The Lead, Tiger Woods Falls Behind

The 2012 Players Championship is underway at TPC Sawgrass, and it was another beautiful day for golf in lovely Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida. Scoring was prime in the morning, and scoring was low on day one, lead by Englishman Ian Poulter and his stunning round of 7-under 65.

Poulter was simply on fire on the course today, firing eight birdies on round including three in a row to begin the back nine. His lone blemish on his scorecard was a bogey on the fourth hole, but was nearly perfect aside from that, hanging on to a one shot lead.

Blake Adams sits right behind Poulter as the lone man at 6-under, while Kevin Na and Ben Crane both fired 5-under 67's.

As for Tiger Woods, who missed the cut last week at the Wells Fargo Championship, simply couldn't get any momentum going today, starting his day bogey-birdie-bogey followed by bogies on 10, 15, and 18. He did manage to birdie par-3's 13 and 17, but would limp into the clubhouse with a final score of two-over 74.
