James Paxton Set to Make Fifth Start After Terrible Outing in Previous Start

Stay connected for news and updates

If you’ve been following along with me all year on the Mariners minor league system thank you for your patience while I was away. But we’re back and so is James Paxton!

When we last left off with James, he allowed 7 R (6 ER) in 2.1 innings with five walks. In his first two starts, Paxton had a 17:1 K:BB ratio in 10.1 innings. However in his last two starts covering only 7 innings, Paxton has 13 walks and only 5 strikeouts.

Those that wanted to see him move up quicker probably now realize that he is still very much a work in progress. He will look to get back on track against the Tennessee Smokies at 5 PM PST tonight. You can listen to the game here.

Last night the Generals beat the Smokies by a score of 5-1 by another strong outing from Andrew Carraway: 5 innings, 5 H, 1 R, 1 BB, 3 K. Carraway is now 3-0 with a 2.63 ERA in five starts.

Denny Almonte went 3-for-4 and Joe Dunigan hit his sixth home run of the season.
