In the STP 400 at Kansas Speedway on Sunday, Greg Biffle picked up his fifth Top 5 finish of the 2012 Sprint Cup Series and gained enough points to retain a comfortable cushion as the overall leader in the chase.
Denny Hamlin won the checkered flag and grabbed his second win of the year, moving him up one spot into the Top 5 in the standings and displacing Kevin Harvick, who finished in sixth place on Sunday. Martin Truex, Jr. finished in second place and led for the most laps in the race. As a result, Truex climbed two spots and now sits fifteen points behind Biffle in second place.
Washington native Kasey Kahne had his second Top-10 finish in as many weeks, crossing the finish line in eighth place and beginning to turn his season around in earnest after a disastrous start. Kahne is now 26th overall in the Sprint Cup standings.
