James Paxton Roughed Up In His Fourth Start

Seattle Mariners prospect James Paxton, one of the top pitching prospects in baseball in the American League, had a terrible fourth outing on the season today against Huntsville.

Paxton only went 2.1 innings, allowing 7 hits and walking 5 with 7 runs allowed. He only recorded one strike out.

He had come into the game with an ERA of 1.20 and 21 strikeouts in 15 innings, though he was having issues being efficient and using too many pitches. This time, inefficiency was the least of his concerns, Paxton simply couldn’t get anybody out or find the strike zone.

Jandy Sena has relieved Paxton and pitched 3.2 shutout innings while the Generals have been able to rally and take an 8-7 lead with the game now in the top of the 7th inning. Joe Dunigan has homered twice for Jackson and Denny Almonte added his third home run of the season.
