Seattle Seahawks CB Marcus Trufant In Good Health, Willing To Play Less

The Seattle Seahawks got a welcome addiction when Marcus Trufant decided to rejoin the team at a reduced salary and with no guarantee of a starting spot. He seems perfectly satisfied with where he is at this moment though, and will happily relinquish a starting spot if it's needed.

Brady Henderson of My Northwest via ESPN710 AM has this report.

"I didn't really think I'd be back, either. Things kinda fell into place and that's how it happened," Trufant told "The Kevin Calabro Show" on Tuesday, eight days after agreeing to a one-year deal with the Seahawks. "Just because of how things kinda worked out as far as my injuries and with the guys -- they played real well last year -- so it didn't really seem like there was a spot for me."

...

"Some things happened and I ended up getting a chance to come back," he said, "and I've got an opportunity to play a little bit."

Trufant has had a strong career with the Seahawks. He contributed 80 tackles or more four of his nine seasons, and 60 tackles or more in seven of them, all while starting 15 or more games in those seven years. Trufant also racked up 21 interceptions and 100 pass deflections. While his numbers are down and he didn't play much last year, Trufant is ready to take a new role in the system.
