Jackson Generals Lose in 16 Innings, James Paxton Makes Third Start Tonight

The Mariners AA-affiliate Jackson Generals lost 4-3 in 16 innings to the Mississippi Braves yesterday, and some batting averages took a tumble in the low-scoring, nearly-two-regular-games-long affair.

Francisco Martinez was 1-for-7 and is now hitting .195, Rich Poythress went 0-for-7, as did Denny Almonte. The highlights would be Daniel Carroll’s 4-for-7 and Joe Dunigan’s 3-for-7 and falling a HR short of the cycle.

Andrew Carraway pitched 5 innings for Jackson but allowed 10 hits and 3 ER. Brian Moran, Stephen Pryor, Bobby LaFromboise and Carter Capps combined for eight shutout innings but Eric Campbell allowed the go-ahead run in the 16th on a home run from Philip Gosselin.
