NFL Mock Draft 2012: Kansas City Chiefs Pick Alameda Ta'amu

Washington Huskies nose tackle Alameda Ta'amu is in a prominent position. The nose tackle is a special position on the football field, as a dominant player at the spot can upgrade a defense from good to great.

DraftTek released its latest mock, and Ta'amu gets picked 44th in the second round of the 2012 NFL Draft by the Chiefs.

Ta'amu has the body and athletic ability to be a good NT at the NFL level. He has good quickness and can command a double team. His drawback is that he is not as strong as you would want in someone his size. However, unlike many NT prospects, he has a good motor and does not take plays off. With some work on his technique and strength, he could be an effective NT for the Chiefs.

The Chiefs's defense is decent, but the run defense wasn't quite as good. Ta'amu might not be quite yet ready to be a nose tackle at the pro level, but if he develops into something stronger, he can be a force to be reckoned with down the road. In the second round, that's a risk worth taking to upgrade the D.
