On Sunday, the Auto Club 400 in Fontana, Calif., was called short due to rain. It was the first time in the history of Auto Club Speedway that a race was shortened due to weather, but over half of the race was in the books at the time of the decision. The caution came out on Lap 124 of 200 and the red flag and subsequent official decision was made on Lap 129.
In the lead when the race was called was Tony Stewart, who picked up the win -- his second of the year. In a refreshing change in a turbulent start to the 2012 Sprint Cup season, the caution on Lap 124 was the very first of the race.
Washington native Greg Biffle finished in sixth place and remains the overall leader in the Sprint Cup standings, seven points ahead of Kevin Harvick, who finished fourth. Fellow Washingtonian Kasey Kahne finished in 14th place, his best Sprint Cup finish of the season and just the second such race he's finished in 2012. Kahne is now 28th overall in the Sprint Cup standings.
