On Sunday, NASCAR held the Kobalt Tools 400 at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway. The third race of the 2012 Sprint Cup season was an important one for Washington natives Greg Biffle and Kasey Kahne. Kahne, in particular, had plenty to prove coming into the race. He had wrecked in the two previous races and held the pole position going into Sunday.
Kahne led for a short time but quickly dropped to tenth place and then beyond. He ultimately placed 19th, which might be disappointing given his positioning in the starting lineup, but he's almost certainly pleased just to finally finish a race this season and pick up a healthy amount of points. He jumped five places in the Sprint Cup standings and is now 25th overall.
As for Biffle, he's a regular third-place machine. For the third week in a row, he takes the bronze. He also takes sole possession of the top spot in the Sprint Cup standings, now holding 125 points, 10 points ahead of Kevin Harvick, who also leapfrogged the previous week's leader, Denny Hamlin.
Here are the full results from Sunday's race.
