The Washington Huskies suffered some disappointing losses in 2011-12, and it ultimately cost them a chance at the NCAA Tournament.

The Washington Huskies were expected to do well in the 2011-12 NCAA basketball season before the first game ever tipped off. The Huskies were two-time reigning Pac-10 champions and were looking to dominate just as much in the inaugural Pac-12 season.

The Huskies had a rough start in November and December prior to conference play kicking off. They lost games against No. 11 Marquette, No. 5 Duke and San Diego State. They had a much stronger showing in Pac-12 play, including winning 10 of their 13 games and finishing their regular season with an overall record of 21-10, going 14-4 in the Pac-12.

The Huskies entered the 2012 Pac-12 Tournament as the No. 1 seed and received a bye to the quarterfinals, but suffered an unfortunate collapse late in their first game against the No. 9 seed Oregon St. Beavers. Some key free throws in the final minutes were badly missed and the Huskies were suddenly heading home. The poor showing in the tournament impacted the Huskies so negatively that they ultimately became the first ever team from a "Big Six" conference to clinch the regular-season title and miss out on the NCAA Tournament altogether.

Pretty interesting developments today, and this certainly sets a historical precedent.
