NFL Combine 2012: Huskies Weigh In, Start Testing

The Washington Huskies have sent four players to this year's NFL Combine, G Senio Kelemete, DT Alameda Ta'amu, WR Jermaine Kearse, and RB Chris Polk. The more well-known tests don't start until tomorrow for some players - the 40 yard dash, the vertical jump, the short shuttle and 3-cone drill and all that. On Friday though, several groups got their physical measurements taken and the offensive linemen were tested on the bench press. Here are some of the results.

Senio Kelemete:

Official height/weight - 6'4, 307, with 33 1/4" arms.

Kelemete did 21 reps of 225 pounds on the bench press, which was in the lower end for offensive linemen, though not nearly the lowest. David Molk of Michigan put up 225 lbs 41 times. Of the players that took part, Andrew Tiller of Syracuse did the fewest, with 16.

Jermaine Kearse:

Official height/weight: 6'1, 209, with 9 1/4" hands.

Kearse and the wide receivers haven't run through many tests yet, and there's nothing too remarkable about his measurements. His size/weight ratio is fine and his 9 1/4" hands are about average, if not a little bit small.

Chris Polk:

Official height/weight: 5'11, 215, with 9 3/4" hands.

As you can see, Polk's hands run about half and inch bigger than those of Kearse despite the fact he's a full two inches shorter. That's a good sign for Polk though, as he'll be relied upon to carry the rock a great deal in the NFL, and it can't hurt his ability to catch the football out of the backfield. Only four RBs in the group measured in with bigger hands, and two of them are likely to be fullbacks at the next level.

Alameda Ta'amu has not recorded any numbers yet. Stay tuned.
