Seattle 0, Boston 5 [box]: Tuesday's loss was like mostly every other of the team's 22 losses — not enough offense. It's come to a point in the season where everyone in the Mariners lineup is failing to produce offensively. The Red Sox are also in last place like the Mariners, but Boston is going to turn it around because they have Dustin Pedroria, David Ortiz and Adrian Gonzalez. The Mariners have no power in their lineup and barely anyone who can hit consistently. We all hold hope at the beginning of the season that somehow the M's will exceed expectations, but I'm close to giving up on this team. Thank God we have Felix Days. Game analysis at Lookout Landing. Next game: Today, Mariners (16-22) at Cleveland (20-16), 4:05 p.m. PT, ROOT Sports, 7.5 games back.

Mariners 6, Red Sox 1 [box]: Tacoma-native Jon Lester joined the list of pitchers this year who have dominated this lowly poor thing we call the Mariners lineup. Jason Vargas pitched his worst game of the season, giving up five runs spread over seven hits to the Red Sox. Jeff Sullivan from Lookout Landing breaks it down for us. Mariners 6, Yankees 2 [box]: The score was 6-2 for the third straight game, but this time the Mariners had the W next to their name. In his first start since 2010, Andy Pettitte gave up four runs in seven innings pitched. Justin Smoak and Casper Wells each hit two-run home runs off of the 17-year veteran in the fourth and sixth innings respectively. Kevin Millwood, in his 16th year in the majors, went seven innings, striking out six and giving up one run over three hits. Jeff Sullivan from Lookout Landing breaks down the Mariners' victory. Do you have a favorite bad Seattle Mariner? For every Ichiro, Alex Rodriguez, Ken Griffey Jr., Randy Johnson and Felix Hernandez, there is a handful of terrible players that have played in Seattle. A good friend of mine texted me that Munenori Kawasaki might be his favorite bad player of all-time. Why? My friend liked the fact that Kawasaki invented a dance and named it after himself. Not a bad reason to like a bad baseball player at all.
I took to Twitter asking everyone who there favorite "bad" Mariner was, here were some of the responses: Chone Figgins, Bobby Ayala, Rich Amaral, Glenallen Hill, Jeff Cirillo, Stan Javier, Russ Davis, Steve Trout, Gil Meche, Endy Chavez, Greg Briley, Pete O'Brien. My favorite lovable loser? John Halama.

Mariners 4, Tigers 6 [box]: There was two outs, the bases were loaded and the winning runs were on base. Jesus Montero ends up fouling the ball into the right field stands and into the diving-into-the-stands glove of Tigers right fielder Don Kelly. After Kelly's catch, Twitter blew up with fans lambasting those other fans for not interfering with the ball and making it difficult for Kelly to catch it.
I don't doubt some fans would take the initiative to keep their team in the game, but would I? Of course I'd want the Mariners to win, but I don't think I'd have the guts to interfere. It's easy to say these things on Twitter or on the couch at home, but when you're watching the game in person the environment is wholly different. Call me a wuss. Mariners 2, Tampa Bay 3 [box]: Anytime Felix Hernandez dominates, it is incredibly disappointing to see the bullpen blow it. I want to whine about and blame Brandon League, but in reality, League is not Eric Gagne cerca 2003 — he is going to blow some games. Everything stinks a little more when Felix is let down because it is Felix. When Felix loses, it feels worse than when Kevin Millwood loses. Even though the result is the same, as a fan I want to see Felix succeed. Yes, I know wins-losses mean nothing in evaluating how good a pitcher is, but I want Felix with the most wins, strikeouts and lowest ERA. I want dominance. Lookout Landing wonders why Felix doesn't have a no-hitter yet. Mariners (11-13) vs. Tampa Bay Rays (15-8), 4:10 pm PT, ROOT Sports, 6.5 games back.

How does one of the greatest Husky running backs of all-time go undrafted? Blame a degenerative shoulder condition that Polk himself denies. After Polk went undrafted, the Philadelphia Eagles wasted no time in signing him to an undrafted free agent contract. Polk will fight for a roster spot during training camp.
Polk's former Husky teammates, Alameda Ta'amu and Senio Kelemete were drafted by the Pittsburgh Steelers and Arizona Cardinals respectively. Mariners 9, Tigers 1 [box]: The Mariners scored a season-high nine runs while their King dominated on the mound. The Portsmouth Invitational is underway in Virginia. This four day tournament showcases the 64 best senior college basketball players in the nation. This year, there are no Huskies participating, but David Michaels, a Division III standout from Whitman College in Walla Walla received an invitation to play in the tournament.
Michaels joins elite company as only five other players from the Division III level have ever been invited in the tournament's 60-year existence. What's even more amazing about Michaels' story is that he averaged under ten points a game in his junior season before having a breakout senior season.

And Tony Wroten decided to go to the NBA draft (headlines can only be so long).
Tuesday's news cycle was full of debate.
First off, the Seattle Seahawks put out their new jerseys, and there seems to be no consensus opinion on them yet. While I do like the uniforms to an extent, I was just to enamored with how cool Marshawn Lynch looked in the pictures released by the team. Is there any other word than "beastly," to accurately describe Lynch in those photos. Field Gulls has full coverage of the uniforms and pictures. My question to you: Are these news uniforms better or worse than the team's current uniforms?

Washington State narrowly held off Pitt in the final seconds to grab the first game in the CBI tournament. The Cougars were led by Abe Lodwick, who nailed six of his first 12 shots and hit four of five threes. Reggie Moore hit eight free throws, providing 14 points in support, and DaVonte Lacy pitched in 10 points. Washington State shot 48.9% from the field and hit nine of their 15 threes while nailing 14 free throws.
Pitt got 16 points from J.J. Moore and Tray Woodall each, and Nasir Robinson added 11 points. The Cougars now move onto the road to face Pitt in Pittsburgh. A loss means a return to Pullman for the third and deciding game; a win means a CBI championshp.

Thanks to a Stanford victory over Cal on Sunday afternoon, the Washington Huskies are your 2012 Pac-12 regular season champions. Will this be enough for an NCAA tournament bid? Some national analysts suggest that this year's Pac-12 is a one-bid conference, meaning a conference like the WCC will have more bids than the Pac-12. Are you kidding me? Yes, the Pac-12 is bad this season, but could Saint Mary's and Gonzaga compile their same win-loss records in the Pac-12? I don't think so.
