Oregon vs. Cal 2012: Yet another blowout victory for the Ducks

It seems like every week is the same, and that's because it is. The Oregon Ducks are 10-0 and continue to put up astronomical offensive numbers against whatever team shows up on their schedule. On Saturday, it was the California Golden Bears, and the Ducks blew them out the water like so many of the others, to the tune of 59-17.

Addicted to Quack enjoyed their view of the demolition.

"With the Number One ranking on the line, the Oregon Ducks did what they needed to do..."

That they did. But it came at a price, as both Kenjon Barner and Marcus Mariota missed time during the game due to injury, and both Taylor Hart and Avery Patterson were knocked out of the game on defense. Yet none of this changed the outcome, as Mariota still tied the school record with six touchdown passes in a game.

The Oregon Ducks are now set up to compete for the BCS Championship, and it's simply due to them continuing to do what they do best — run up the score on any and everybody.

Oregon vs. Cal score update: Ducks take 24-10 lead into halftime

No. 2 Oregon leads Cal 24-10 at halftime on Saturday night at Memorial Stadium in Berkeley, although the lead could have come with a price.

The Ducks led 14-7 after the first quarter thanks to a pair of lengthy touchdown drives led by quarterback Marcus Mariota. Oregon took advantage of a personal foul penalty that gave the offense new life after a failed third down attempt, with Byron Marshall's 3-yard touchdown run giving the Ducks a one-score lead.

The two teams traded field goals in the second quarter and, trailing 17-10, the Bears appeared to be on their way to possibly tying the game. Cal would be stopped inside Oregon territory, with Vincenzo D'Amato's 48-yard field goal attempt sailing wide. The Ducks would take advantage, with Mariota completing 5-of-7 passes on the ensuing drive that was capped with a 10-yard pass to Josh Huff.

Mariota, who was 16-of-21 for 222 yards and two touchdowns, appeared to be injured at the end of the half, favoring his left shoulder as the team headed into the locker room.

Oregon vs. Cal score update: Ducks leading 14-7 after 1st quarter

No. 3 Oregon leads Cal, 14-7, after the first quarter at Memorial Stadium in Berkeley on Saturday night.

Oregon opened the scoring early in the game with a 57-yard touchdown drive following a Cal three-and-out to start the game, giving the Ducks a 7-0 lead thanks to Macus Mariota's 10-yard pass to Colt Lyerla. The Bears responded with a 71-yard drive to tie the game thanks to a Allan Bridgford 10-yard pass just under three minutes later.

The game would get chippy a few drives later when the Ducks appeared to have been stopped short on third down deep inside Cal territory. A personal foul against Cal gave Oregon another chance on the drive, with the Ducks scoring and taking the lead just four plays later after Byron Marshall's 3-yard touchdown run.

Oregon has outgained Cal, 147-104, through the first quarter with Ducks quarterback Mariota 8-of-10 for 105 yards and a touchdown so far in the game.
