Seahawks injury report: James Carpenter ruled out with concussion

Kirby Lee-US PRESSWIRE

James Carpenter will sit out Sunday's game against the Vikings due to his head injury.

Seattle Seahawks left guard James Carpenter will not play in Seattle's showdown with the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday due to a concussion.

Carpenter, who had not appeared on the Seahawks' injury report until Friday afternoon, might have suffered the injury in practice. He was listed as having missed practice on Friday due to illness, and was listed as questionable for Sunday's game. On Saturday, however, the team ruled Carpenter out.

Without Carpenter, a first-round selection in 2011, the Seahawks could turn to John Moffitt, who is recovered from a knee injury of his own that kept him out for more than a month. According to the Seattle Times, Paul McQuistan could move from right guard to left guard to fill in for Carpenter while Moffitt fills on the right side.

Carpenter was part of a line that did not allow a sack to quarterback Russell Wilson against the Detroit Lions last week, the first time the Seahawks had accomplished that this season.
