The first quarter between the Seahawks and Panthers has come to a close, and Seattle leads Carolina 3-0. The Seahwks have done a great job of shutting down Cam Newton and the Carolina offense, allowing the Panthers to gain just 44 yards in the opening quarter.
Seattle opened the scoring with a 22-yard Steven Hauschka field goal on their first possession of the game. After kicking off to the Panthers, the Seahawks defense forced Carolina to go three and out. Seattle took over at the Carolina 45 yard line, and drove the ball into the red zone before settling for three points.
Seattle again forced a three and out again on their second possession, but their subsequent drive would stall at the Carolina 39 yard line and the Seahawks would have to punt. Carolina would get a pair of first downs after starting their third drive at their own five yard line, but they'd again be forced to punt as the 1st quarter wound to a close.
Russell Wilson has started the game by hitting six of his first seven passes for 68 yards. The Seahawks begin the 2nd quarter with the ball at their own 27 yard line.
