Seahawks vs. Lions 2012: Seattle trails Detroit, 7-3, after 1st quarter

The Seattle Seahawks trail the Detroit Lions, 7-3, after one quarter of play in Motown on Sunday. The Hawks jumped out to early 3-0 lead thanks to a little help from their opponent.

Detroit was called for defensive holding to give the Seahawks a first down, and then the Lions extended the drive by lining up over the center on a Seattle punt attempt. The Hawks would stall in the redzone and settle for a field goal from Steven Hauschka.

Russell Wilson was accurate on the drive, completing 7-of-8 passes. The Lions were able to stifle Marshawn Lynch and the run game, and that played a big role in Seattle's inability to convert their redzone trip into a touchdown. Lynch carried the ball four times for just two yards on the field goal trip.

The Seattle defense forced a punt on the game's opening drive, but the Lions had little trouble carving up the Seahawks through the air on their next possession. Matthew Stafford connected with Ryan Broyles from six yards out to cap an 82-yard drive.
