Washington vs. Arizona update: Huskies trail 10-3 after 1st quarter

Stay connected for news and updates

The Washington Huskies trail the Arizona Wildcats 10-3 after one quarter of play in Tucson on Saturday night.

Arizona completed a seven-play, 75-yard drive on its first possession to take a 7-3 lead when Matt Scott hit David Richards for a 27-yard touchdown pass. Washington's defense kept it a one-score game as the quarter closed, however. Scott completed passes of 20 and 43 yards to Dan Buckner to set the Wildcats up at the Washington seven-yard line. But the Huskies batted down a couple passes and held Arizona to a field goal.

Washington opened the game with a long, deliberate drive that saw quarterback Keith Price throw the ball ten times, completing six. The 14-play drive stalled when Price threw two incompletions at Arizona's 25-yard line, and Travis Coons put through a 43-yard field goal.

Price is 10-17 passing for 78 yards through one quarter, and Bishop Sankey leads all Huskies in rushing with 23 yards on six carries.
