Seahawks guard James Carpenter played well in his first game of the season on Sunday, according to head coach Pete Carroll. Carpenter's return came at a good time as John Moffitt could miss another week with a knee injury.

The Seattle Seahawks' offensive line seemed to get a lift from guard James Carpenter's outing in his first start of the 2012 season on Sunday. The Seahawks will need him to keep up the good work as John Moffitt (knee) could be out for another week.

Carpenter, the Seahawks' 2011 first-round pick out of Alabama, played his first game of any kind against against the Rams in Week 4 after missing the entire preseason and beginning of the season due to rehab on his left knee. Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll said about Carpenter's play:

"James played really well. He did a very, very good job. He had a couple errors in the game, which you just about have to anticipate. But we ran a lot to the left. He did a really good job of covering his guy up."

Other O-Line News:

Right tackle Breno Giacomini could be headed for the bench after committing two personal fouls against the Rams, one of which stalled a drive in the second quarter.

Tackle Allen Barbre has been released. Barbre spent the first four games of the season on the reserve/suspended list for violating the league's substance abuse policy for performance enhancing drugs.
