Aaron Curry Six-Year Deal Restructed To Four Years, Free Agent After 2012

Linebacker Aaron Curry of the Seattle Seahawks has been considered a bit of disappointment relative to the value of his contract. Then again it's hard to meet expectations as a top five pick in the first round of the NFL Draft. Curry's stats (average of 60 to 70 tackles, two to three sacks a year) are pretty good, but they apparently could and should be better.

So, Curry's contract has been shortened to ensure he increases his production. Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk reports that Curry's deal has been restructed from six years to four, and that he'll be a free agent upon the conclusion of the 2012 season. More importantly, guaranteed money from 2012 has been dropped--over $5 million--meaning that Curry could be cut after the 2011 season if the Seahawks aren't satisfied with his production. Seattle's general manager John Schneider seems committed to try and undo the huge contracts his predecessor Tim Ruskell hands out.
