2011 Tour De France Results, Standings: Tyler Farrar Still Chasing Green Jersey

Just a day after his first-ever Tour de France stage victory, Tyler Farrar picked up valuable sprint points in the stage four intermediate sprint. Farrar burst from the peloton near the intermediate checkpoint, beating the pack to the line to secure all-important points in the race for the green jersey. At the time, the pack was chasing a five-rider breakaway, leaving Farrar to cross the line in sixth, but ahead of the rest of the sprint contenders.

Cadel Evans took home the win in stage four, just barely edging Alberto Contador in a photo finish. Farrar was not expected to challenge for the stage win on Tuesday as his skills aren't best-suited for an uphill sprint. But thanks to his efforts in the intermediate sprint, Farrar did pick-up 10 points in the race for the green jersey, pushing his total to 68 in the 2011 Tour de France.

In the overall standings, Jose Joaquin Rojas is still in green with 82 points, just two ahead of Evans. Phillipe Gilbert, the stage one winner, is in third with 77 points. Farrar's Garmin-Cervelo teammate, and world-class sprinter, Thor Hushovd is in fourth with 70 points, but lost valuable ground after he and Mark Cavendish were disqualified from the stage three intermediate sprint. Hushovd is still in yellow after taking the overall lead following the stage two team time trial. Farrar is in fifth with 68 points and is positioned well for a run at the green jersey.
